About Me:: i'm predominantly a mother really. I've been working as an artist in near obscurity all my life. I didn't go to art school because all my teachers and my parents pressured me into academic studies. i took a year out in 1991-2 and rebelliously applied to art schools but a) didn't have a clue what i was doing, and b) had already spent my first years funding at Glasgow uni. So even when i did get a place at Camberwell.. i couldn't afford to go there. So i went back to Glasgow and completed my degree (a Scottish M.A. in English lit. which included 2 years study of history of art). Throughout all of this i carried on making work (i attended life drawing at Glasgow School of Art and printmaking courses at Glasgow Print Studio).. in 1998 i had my first child and then in 2000 i had another.. so they have kept things ticking along... i carried on making work then too. In 2004 i managed to get a few pics into a rather commercial exhibition in New York. I felt oddly dissatisfied by it so i decided to do what i had wanted to do all along... and encouraged by various people.. applied to do an M.A. at Sunderland. This was really because it seemed i could afford it... (it was a free degree) and it was manageable distance wise/ obviously being a single parent makes it very difficult to relocate for such things. It really saved my life. I'd suffered from depression on and off up till then and haven't really relapsed since i started at Sunderland. I got a distinction of which i'm v. proud and I'm now doing another M.A. in curating.

Right now I'm exhibiting my first major solo show in Northampton.

My interview at the Tate Monster was terrible! but at least I had fun and I met conservators from others countries. I'm still laughing for your ALELUYA stuff ha ha ha ha you are crazy...lovely but complete crazy hahahahaha. see you next week, finally!
